Definitely worth the short drive from Nashville (1 hour 45 min). I always go to cabins prepared for these things, so we were not at all bothered. If you to stay in a cabin, bring paper towels and grooming items (shampoo, conditioners and lotions and hair driers as these are not provided). Nice and quiet.loads of hiking trails for all levels. If you can go mid week, there are very few people there. There is an 18 hole golf course in the park (Bear Trace) which is outstanding and affordable. There is a marina a short hop down the road that rents pontoon boats and has a cute little dock side restaurant (The Hard Dock Cafe). As a matter of fact, we never even saw a house even close to the shoreline. The lake is beautiful.the shore line in not littered with housing developments. They were spacious and clean and many of them had fabulous unobstructed lake views. It's a cabin! If you want brand new amenities, go to a hotel! The cabins at Tim's Ford are full of character with sloping roof lines that are visible from inside. While others have commented the cabins at Tim's Ford as "dated" we did not think that at all. This cute little campground is near a Dollar General store, and downtown Winchester is just ten minutes away. Campers have to go to the dump station, and the line gets backed up. But I wish all the lakefront sites had sewer hookups. All campsites have a good view of the lake. Most of the sites in the middle and up on the hill have water, electric, and sewer hookups. Most of the lakefront sites just have water and electric hookups. There are lots of lakefront lots, where you can pull up your kayaks, or boat to the shore or swim in the lake. They have a newly paved road, great for bike riding. You can also book on line, if you’re not eligible for discounts. The office staff are so friendly, and have been very helpful in bookings and getting handicapped discounts. The Camp Host, Vickie, does a great job keeping the bathrooms clean, and staying in touch with everyone. We have camped there 5 times in our Class C.
